Dr. rer. nat. Tina Hörbelt-Grünheidt is postdoctoral fellow at the Institute of Medical Psychology and Behavioral Immunobiology of the University Hospital in Essen. She studied Molecular Biology at the Westphalian University of Applied Sciences in Recklinghausen and completed her Master of Science in Medical Biology at the University Duisburg Essen in 2013. During her PhD at the Institute for Clinical Biochemistry and Pathobiochemistry of the German Diabetes Center Düsseldorf, she investigated the role of novel adipokines in obesity, type 2 diabetes, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, their impact on energy metabolism, and the contribution of these factors to the development of insulin resistance and metabolic dysfunctions in skeletal muscle and liver.
Interests
My research projects focus on the reciprocal interaction of the central nervous system and the peripheral immune system during learned placebo responses in humans and rodents. In particular, we aimed to answer the questions whether conditioned immunopharmacological responses are inducible by distinct immunomodulative drugs and what the potential underlying neurobiological mechanisms are. Here, I am responsible for supervising, planning and performing distinct biochemical, molecular biology as well as cell-based analytical methods.
